The Isabella Dress

I try to take turns with my sewing so that I am doing an overload for just Mia, or an overload for just a friends daughter etc. This is one of those squeezed in projects.

This is The Isabella Dress from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop. Such an amazingly cute dress!!

As is normal with me there is almost always something that intimidates me or I think is going to be more difficult than it is or something that took longer than it would have anyone else.

For me there were 2 things in this dress... lol ... First the diagonal ruffle, omg seriously how cute is that?!, should not have been nearly as difficult as it was. For me personally it was because I was doing the gathering and stitching after Mia went to bed at 8:30. Which also happens to be the exact time I take my sleeping pills to go to bed by 10:30. Enter the taking too long part. I was so determined to get these ruffles pinned and everything that I was pining and re pinning and then re pinning again because I was loopy from sleeping pills and couldn't get it straight! And if you look closely you will see that the top ruffle still isn't perfect lol. The other thing I was scared of was the invisible zipper. I have done very few regular zippers and they were far from perfect so I was not about to attempt an invisible one! So I altered the pattern just a little bit to include 3 fabric loop buttonholes and 3 alternating side buttons.

Overall once I got past my inability to pin while sleeping pills are in my system, this pattern was super easy and very informative and it taught me a lot! I mean I lined a dress! Who would have thought!?!

So for a super cute relatively easy and very well written pattern go check it out! And if this one isn't your style or you are worried about anything in it, there are a ton of other patterns to drool over and choose from. Make sure you have some money or are willing to make a wish list. No sewist could go and not want to buy at least one thing!

I love this dress! I mean seriously how much cuter can it get!?!

I have not seen my friend yet to get a picture of her daughter wearing it yet but I am sure it is going to look just adorable on!

And then for giggles I made a matching fabric flower barrette. This is seriously easy to make! After watching this one Youtube video I can make them in my sleep!

After I did what the video said I then wrapped a small piece of  scrap around a clip and hot glued it around and then hot glued the clip to the back of the flower. I mean seriously how cute it that!?! And if you want a bigger flower just use more circles or bigger circles.

Anyone else have some easy tips for making accessories to match an outfit?

Happy Sewing!
